So near, yet so far away!

Yeah, it was more than an august break indeed!!
Now, i’m thinking frantically, what on earth do i title this post?? coping with occupational stress?? No! i need something that
doesn’t tell there’s been so much fire on the mountain or beneath the mountain (I haven’t said that, have i?). Perhaps, i’ll just go with one that doesn’t show i’ve been away for so long. I’ve been without a machine to work with for that long and so i lost my draft posts… Can’t seem to find an appropriate one so i’ll act like i have one (i’ll let u know when it finally comes). before then, let me carry on with my titleless post!
dunno if this is a common phenomenon, i’ve been generally out of touch with this world of blogs.
Recently, i did a round on sites i visited frequently and realized how much i missed out. you guys are doing good!
For those who came close enough, you would agree with me that it was just not the season for blogging or maybe i wasn’t strong enough, just maybe… truth is, i was ever so close yet so far away!
Now, please tell me, if you know, what comes out of an empty sack when it’s turned over? nothing! how’bout when it’s shaken & squeezed?? like when you squeeze an orange, you get some orange juice.
Nothing still? I don’t totally agree with that cos i have learnt otherwise.
A more appropriate answer would be saying that what’s in it comes out. Short of saying we as human beings never know what
we could get up to under pressure. trust me, i’m speaking from experience! Pressure brings out what’s latent (tendencies, i choose to call them).
In this case, nothing comes out of the sack because nothing is in it. A Bible passage sums it up:
‘Lots of people claim to be loyal and loving, but where on earth can you find one?’ Prov. 20.6 The message.
In other words, what you profess of yourself may not be necessarily true till you’ve been tested.
I can’t exactly promise that i’m here to stay (for now) but i will surely make time to blurt once in a while.

Friday joke

Two Fridays ago, I woke up feeling sick and silly.I sent a mail to a few friends, i bcc everyone on my list so noone knows who’s been enlisted.

Seconds after, responses came trickling in, some caught the joke, others didn’t, some played along and some just wondered? Some yet screamed and yelled, some believed, some laughed at their ignorance in missing out of the ‘Friday joke’.

Share the fun:

Good morning,Just wanted to inform you in confidence that I am finally tying the knot. It’s about time!!!  First you have to forgive me for updating you this late, but I was just waiting for the right opportunity.  Hmm…Now straight to the news. Still so many issues are yet to be resolved and so many people need to be convinced. I think most of you would have guessed it by this time, Yes it is exactly as you think. Yes…I am tying the knot!! It was actually planned for August. But due to opposition from some quarters, the date has been tentatively moved to the following month. I understand very well that you all would be in great awe and shock, but yes it is. There are still so many things to arrange but God is in control. Everything happened so fast.

Please see below for further clarification on this, and hoping for your valued input

[A pity I can't upload the graphics right now. However it was a pictorial representation of the step by step processes of knotting a tie!! now that was the joke!]

Particularly for my friends who know not how to knot a tie! Thanks.

And the responses??

just gistin

Ok ok, i’ve actually been around but not fully, i’ve had so many distractions in such quick successions!I thought i wouldn’t remember my password anymore.

Meanwhile, it took me days to fully recover from the wedding in my last post, and the following week was yet another friend’s wedding, in fact i had two on that day, i managed to attend both and so i was caught up in some kind of wedding attendance inflicted ailment plus the stress of a normal work day- fatigue! And next weekend again? Some peeps have actually seen through me and have concluded that I’m in ‘the’ mood. Blame you me? I beg not!I managed to crawl out of that state, partly due to some long awaited answers to prayers, partly to some respite from ‘martha’s busyness’ that i had been about for the past few months!

Lesson learnt: a woman’s job is never done!I have also discovered that everything in life isn’t pink, ruffled and cute!

Meanwhile, have you seen the rains lately??

My friend’s wedding

I knew I would be posting this a few days after my friend’s wedding even though there’s a draft post waiting to be published. I decided to go ahead with this considering the fact that the wedding is still fresh in my memory. Now you don’t want to know i’m writing in green ink! Why? Coincidentally, green was the bride’s colour of choice and so her bridal party was somewhat greenful (my English).

Gosh! I’msure I came so close to my wedding day, my freind and I have come a long way, we’ve blended so much that we could readily pass for sisters, we have quite a number of things in common, same age, size, stature, frame, taste, passion, friends, outlook, position in the family and most importantly, similar values; just on her wedding day, I yet discovered another similarity ( a rather funny one indeed).

I wouldn’t bore you with the pre wedding details and all the attending gists plus my green pen is messing up and I may have to resort to a black or blue one in no time! It’s Sunday morning, my friend is a day old in her marriage and i’m missing her already, I was so tempted to call her late last night, I ended up not calling cuz I confronted myself with the realization that these two will be securing their future; howsoever, I dunno!

… switch to blue biro, feels better!!

Like I said, it’s Sunday morning, i’ve been to church already, had to come back early, i’ve got slight sore throat, a bad cold, bags underneath my eyes, I’m just generally tired and I need to get some well deserved rest before Monday morning comes. The past few days have been quite demanding as the ‘best lady’ (meanwhile, I heard there’s no such thing o!) or better still, the Chief bride’s maid, hmmn, CBM or BL, I was her primary attendant that day and i tell you, it wasn’t easy, i guess my trouble started when i got my feet into a pair of high heeled cut-above shoes (pretty but pinching!).

I picked up my pen when sleep evaded my eyes, now it looks like it’s haunting me and as such I may have to quit abruptly plus i’m not sure which part of the story to share and what part not to. But at least, you know what i was up to this weekend!

P.S. She handed me her live bouquet as a parting gift (amidst hugs ‘n’ tears). I wish I could keep it forever. She called me this morning, apparently on her way to the moon!

Why Blog?

I was wondering – why blog??

Here’s what I found!

“More than anything, blogs have enabled us to communicate what’s in our hearts and minds to anyone in the world who wants to listen. And you can do all of this sitting at home in front of your computer.

If you’re reading this, there’s a good possibility that you read blogs, comment on blogs, or write one of your own. If you never go near blogs, I wouldn’t be too concerned. But for the rest of us, here are some things to keep in mind as we inhabit the blogosphere.

Christians might blog on a variety of topics and for a number of reasons, but they share one common goal:

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Cor. 10:31)

If God wants us to eat and drink for his glory, He certainly wants us to blog for the same reason. That means God has something to say about our content, attitude, and motive in blogging.

It’s not hard to find blogs that are filled with foul language, pornographic material, and useless information. But as Christians, we’re commanded to think about things that are true, honorable, just, pure, commendable, excellent, and praiseworthy (Phil. 4:8). That includes quite a bit. What it doesn’t include is saying whatever I feel like saying, rehearsing how lousy I feel, wallowing in self-pity, or stirring up unnecessary controversy. God says we’ll be held accountable for every word we speak — and blog.

If you’re going to write a blog, write about something that matters. Unless you don’t expect anyone to read what you’re saying, ask yourself if what you’re writing will serve your readers in any way. It might be funny or serious, your own reflections or thoughts from others. Your blog might simply point to resources, books, or music that has encouraged you. But the content should in some meaningful way bring glory to God.”

Those are not my words but you’ll agree with me that they are true! They are excerpts from Bob Kauflin’s idea of ‘Blogging to worship God’.

The value of ‘b’

You will have to indulge me here. I wish to share a friend’s thoughtful thoughts about me, call it flattery, psyches, whatever, it  does feel good to be appreciated considering the fact that i’ve been about the ‘busyness’ of Martha for the past few days!

Hear him:

W.H.O defines the function g(x)=b as the beauty of a girl where x is a variable defined as the inherent element of beauty in a girl.g is any operation upon x that improves the beauty of the girl. With inferences from practical samples W.H.O observed that as x approaches ∞ (infinity), the lim.g(x)=s, and defined the unit of b as siks, for example, agbani is just 0.8 siks and J.Lo is just 0.6siks. Now do not ask me what s is …S means Sike, the maximum value of b!!

I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! Ps 139:14 (Msg)

That’s taken(ing)* me several months to fully digest, hope it does you same J

*POS: Point Of Sale

* Taken(ing): substitute en with ing

My orange NEXT bag

Now i don’t really remember what aspect of the English Language Grammar deals with the proper arrangement of words, like when you want to define a bag that belongs to you, it’s branded Next, it’s orange in colour bla bla bla, ok, now you get my drift!

I wonder how many people have ever been at a loss on what to buy for who! this usually happens when you embark on a journey, now it doesn’t really matter where but you sha stepped into a plane and landed somewhere whether 15mins, 6 hrs, 24hrs or even days after! I think it’s an African or Nigerian mentality where everyone expects to get sthg upon ur return. Who cares what ur mission for travel was?? (more…)

Today Matters

A friend shared this piece with me:

I Woke up this morning…. lying in bed, I asked myself ‘what are some of the secrets of success in life?’ I found the answers right there, in my very room. The fan said: be cool. The roof said: aim high. The window said: see the world. The clock said: every minute is precious. The mirror said: reflect before you act. The calendar said: be updated. The door said: push hard for your goals!

I’m reading a book at the moment, Today Matters by John C. Maxwell. Therein, he shared the concept of what he calls ‘Daily Dozen’.These are his 12 critical areas for success:

  • Attitude: choose and display the right attitudes daily
  • Priorities: determine and act on important priorities daily
  • Health: Know and follow healthy guidelines daily
  • Family: Communicate with and care for my family daily
  • Thinking: Practice and develop good thinking daily
  • Commitment: Make and keep proper commitments daily
  • Finances: make and properly manage money daily
  • Faith: Deepen and live out my faith daily
  • Relationships: Initiate and invest in solid relationships daily
  • Generosity: Plan for and model generosity daily
  • Values: Embrace and practice good values daily
  • Growth: seek and experience improvements daily

Something common to each of these areas is the daily requirement, a little dose of each on a daily basis will surely guarantee success. Each critical area has been dealt with on a chapter by chapter basis with applications and self discovery exercises to propel action.

I may be back sharing what I’ve learnt, I may not! Till then, have a great week and Happy Easter!

TGIF – Today God Is First

O: Yeah, u might say it o…I’m just crazy bout God

O: But when I feel you well, I sense a kind of imbalance in u that will tilt towards the affairs of life

O: There is a kind of life, whether in abundance or lack, the person is strong and confident that he’s accurate in what he is doing

O: You could but u’ve got so many expectations that u’ll go for without even asking God

AA: really? (more…)
