Legally married or Happily married?

Blogging could be fun on one hand and on the other, requires a level of commitment. For the past few days, i haven’t had enough space and time for ‘Identity’.

Recently, i woke up to the realization that almost all my friends, peers and contemporaries are married! that is not to say i’m under any form of pressure but it just amazes me what one can do in time, now, i mean time with no particular reference to what particular length, be it a minute, an hour, a day, a month… I just simply remember the days long gone.

Here’s a short piece  (summary) on my thoughts about getting married:

At the risk of sounding like a marriage counsellor (who i’m not!), i I wish to share a few tips on this relationship thing. Entering into a relationship requires that you’re armed with these tips- Training, Insights, Plans and Strategy.

The CLAIM concept.

  • Create a clear vision of what you want – if you don’t know wat you want, you’ll most likely settle for less.
  • Locate the person you want to do what you want to do with
  • Attract him/her like a magnet
  • Inspire him/her to want what you want on a long term basis
  • Marry him/her and get busy being happy!

Embrace the concept, adopt the behaviour, happy marriage guaranteed!!

PS. there are more timless pieces of advice on achieving a successful marriage but this is just MY own piece i got from a seminar I once attended.

Tough times; tougher people.

I returned from work not too long ago, all tired and woozy, the past few days for me have not been the best of days! It’s been a while I last blogged, I thought I would make a Monday morning post but I just could not (for some genuine reasons) I had a draft ready but there was this feeling of inadequacy.

I stumbled on one of my not-so-old journals and I realised ‘It’s not today I started blabbing!’You need to see what I’ve been thinking (good stuff, I tell you).

I enjoy reading Dr. Abati’s editorial columns in the Guardian Newspaper, his Friday episode was quite interesting, he narrated his ordeal as he tried to fit into the shoes of a normal average man doing his usual thing.
After a hard day’s work, wade through the phenomenal traffic, get home, no light, noise from generators rent the air, noisy neighbourhood, little hours of sleep, wake up the next morning, cycle repeats itself, month ends, bills arrive…

After reading through, I smiled and said to myself ‘what a plight!’  Well, I know too well that he hasn’t experienced such to the full extent to which an average Nigerian does on a daily basis! but you know what? what’s new is not so new, we change the style but do as they did, what’s been before is what will always be, it goes to come, it comes to go, we change the bottle but pour the same wine.

Conclusion: Follow a print, leave a print (more to come on leaving a print).

Men, your hair is really long!

Ehn, if my hair were this long, i would just be packing it with different colours of ribbons!

It’s a lie, don’t tell me this is ur hair?? how manage?

What treatment do you use? What relaxer? God has really blessed you with this kind of hair!

I love your hair!

Have you ever had a low cut? How many years did it take you to grow this length of hair?

My goodness! If i were you, i’ll make every girl envious of what i have, afterall, the slogan is ‘flaunt it if you’ve got it’!  (more…)

Basmati-a lesson worth sharing.

Until a few months ago, i used to feel like a seasoned cook, as in i thought i could readily prepare a meal from start to finish, well, this fact (or illusion) seemed true until i tried to cook a particular type of rice – Basmati.

Good morning God, Good God morning.

Those are two distinct short sentences with exactly the same words, but arranged in different orders. Each passes a different message across, can you tell the difference? you’re free to punctuate as you please.

This was a teaser i came across some months back at the orientation programme in my present workplace.
OMG! there were as much different ideas as there were faces present that day! but here’s what i found:
Good morning, God.
I’m waking up to the reality that it’s a new morning and i’m saying good morning to God, that’s an optimistic approach to life!
Good God, morning!
Phew, that’s more like I’m surprised it’s morning already. Scared, wondering what the day holds, i turn to God in my despair ‘Good God, morning! that’s rather pessimistic.

For me, it’s Good morning God and good morning, you!
Smiles…

Pious Me!!

It’s Monday morning and I’m at work (I actually did a draft yesterday evening, so it’s not like i’m blogging away this early morn). If you’re like me, you must have had an incomplete weekend if you weren’t in church yesterday morning. I love Fridays, it’s almost my best day of the week (I really don’t know why). Saturday was a day of rest, went about my usual household chores and got enough rest. Arrived church dreadfully late on Sunday thereafter went for a friend’s party, I had fun! Catching up on old times was really refreshing and funny. Sparing you the details!
Now, the gist of today’s post is this ‘Time’s up for playing fast and loose with God’, those are the exact words in a favourite version of the Bible I enjoy reading – the Messgae. Truth is, God is ready to pass sentence and there’s no help in sight. I wish we would press in beyond the Sunday Sunday affair (you know all those pious thingys) and live lives that truly honour God -the kind of life that excels at work ‘n’ play. I was wondering how much stamina i’ve built to survive this week as i try to keep up with the social life, i feel completely burnt out and i hope to start doing less if i’m ever going to do more! However, i will do my best and leave the rest.

Wish you a fruitful week ahead.
Leaving you with this:

Morning Light, Start out bright,
Try to do your day’s work right,
And on your way, do be gay
All the world is yours today,
Gone is all your sorrows,
Happiness will follow.

A message from Tyler Perry

This makes a delightful reading!… don’t stop dreaming.

It’s Sunday morning. I’m sitting here in
South Africa watching the sun rise. I’m aware that the time is seven hours ahead of the east coast and that most of
America is asleep, but I wish that I could wake you all up to see this. It is so peaceful here. In a few hours I will be heading home and I will take from these ten days a lifetime of memories.
